Our client is seeking an experienced Lead Water Technician to lead water damage mitigation and structural drying projects for residential and commercial properties. The ideal candidate will have 6+ years of water mitigation experience, current IICRC certifications, strong knowledge of industry standards, and the ability to lead field crews while maintaining high-quality customer service and documentation.
This role requires a hands-on leader who can assess water damage, develop drying plans, operate moisture detection equipment, supervise technicians, and ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to IICRC standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise water mitigation technicians and field crews.
- Assess water damage and determine the appropriate mitigation and drying procedures.
- Develop and implement effective structural drying plans.
- Perform moisture inspections, moisture mapping, and daily monitoring.
- Set up, monitor, and adjust air movers, dehumidifiers, and other drying equipment.
- Use moisture meters, thermal imaging cameras, hygrometers, and related equipment.
- Complete project documentation, photographs, sketches, moisture maps, and drying reports.
- Accurately track labor hours, equipment usage, materials, and job progress.
- Communicate project updates with customers, management, adjusters, and other involved parties.
- Ensure proper use of PPE and compliance with company safety procedures.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
- Train and mentor junior Water Technicians on proper mitigation and drying procedures.
- Conduct daily inspections of company vehicles, tools, and equipment.
- Provide professional and responsive customer service throughout the project.
- Assist with Category 1, 2, and 3 water loss projects and related remediation activities.
- Travel to job sites and assist with emergency response, including evenings and weekends when required.
- Participate in required company, safety, and technical training.
Qualifications
- 6+ years of professional water damage mitigation/restoration experience required.
- Current IICRC certifications required, with WRT strongly preferred.
- IICRC ASD certification preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of the IICRC S500 Water Damage Restoration Standard.
- Knowledge of structural drying, moisture monitoring, psychrometry, and water mitigation procedures.
- Experience with moisture meters, thermal imaging cameras, hygrometers, and related drying equipment.
- Ability to calculate equipment requirements and determine appropriate drying strategies.
- Previous experience leading or supervising restoration crews.
- Experience handling residential and commercial water losses.
- Knowledge of Category 1, Category 2, and Category 3 water damage.
- Strong documentation, communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Valid driver's license with eligibility to operate a company vehicle.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Ability to work independently while effectively coordinating with project managers and other team members.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift and carry 50+ lbs.
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work for extended periods.
- Work in confined, restricted, wet, or physically demanding environments.
- Safely operate and move water extraction and drying equipment.
- Work in residential, commercial, and construction environments.
- Use mobile devices and tablets to document project information and work hours.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, emergency calls, and occasional overnight assignments.
Compensation & Benefits
Pay: $26.50 per hour
